Guatemala
-Issue: A lack of English language teacher-trainers and teaching tools in rural communities hindered the capability of farmers and communities to access valuable economic and informational resources that enable improvements in well-being.
-Solution: In 2009, GPE developed grassroots outreach and education projects at the two satellite campuses of the Universidad Del Valle de Guatemala: Altiplano and Proesur.
The project advanced:
-English language abilities of university faculty and community members
-Innovative classroom tools for engaging students
and held:
-The national conference on teaching English: “Congreso para Maestros de Ingles”
-Weekly ESL trainings and workshops on English language and teaching English for professors and teachers
